August is the most decorated Greco Roman wrestler and coach ever to come from Sacramento. He is a two-time USA World Team member competing in 2012 and 2015 World Championships as well as participating in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Trials. August is a six-time medalist representing the United States on four international teams.

He has over 25 years coaching experience and has been selected 14 times to lead U.S. teams at international competition in 24 countries. August also is known as one of the most successful college coaches. He guided teams at Sierra College, Sacramento State and Iowa State University to conference and regional championships while also coaching at San Juan, Jesuit, and Inderkum High Schools.
